#67 - Motown

Michigan is known for its cold winters.  What most people down south don't realize is how beautiful it is in the summertime.  When we were there this past weekend, the highs each day were around 78-80 degrees, with lows at night around 60.  It felt so nice!!!  So, on Monday, we took a short walk from Sue's house on Grosse Ile (an island between Detroit and Canada) to the Detroit river.  We stopped along the way and took a few pictures.

And....that afternoon, we got a visit from Prima Elena!!!!  She loved seeing little O, and was very patient with him as he got used to the company (he had just woken up from a nap).

That night, to celebrate Owen's upcoming birthday, Tita Susan baked him an awesome looking Monkey cake.  It was so cute.  It even had ice-cream in the middle of it.  Despite Owen being a bit overwhelmed by the attention, we sung Happy Birthday to him.  As still relatively new parents, we learned a pretty basic rule - next time we'll keep the candle out of reach of the baby.  See the evidence below of Owen sticking his finger in the middle of the flame.  I'll spare you the next few pictures of him crying....

Shortly after we had cake and ice-cream, Primos Greg, Kellyann and Sofiamaria came over!  We had not seen Sofiamaria since Christmas time, and she has gotten so big.  She's absolutely adorable, and has the sweetest little smile.  She's the perfect image of both her mom and dad (well, looks like Greg mostly, but has Kelly's beauty thank goodness).  Owen and Sofia hung out on the trampoline, bouncing each other up and down and making each other laugh.  It was quite a cute sight.  Here's a picture of sweet Sofiamaria.

Finally, on Wednesday, Lou took Owen over to Tita Susie and Tito Sam's house.  They had a lot of fun visiting with them!

Sorry for the incredibly long post, but we did so much in Michigan, and wanted to share the pictures with everyone, especially our awesome familia up north and across the ocean.

Now, it's time for us to start packing for the beach!
