#191 - Our week in pictures....and a video

Every single morning, Owen asks to hold Benjamin.  He looks forward to it every day, and it always brings a huge smile to Owen's face. And, most of the time, Benjamin smiles too, I just couldn't capture it on my iPhone camera.  

On Wednesday, I got a text from our nanny that when she checked on Owen during nap time, she found him, instead of napping, coloring himself with a blue highlighter pen.  No idea where he found that, but he colored a "moustache and beard" on his face, "hair" up and down his arms, some blue spots on his belly, and the palms of his hands were a solid blue.  Unlike the Crayolas, a blue highlighter is not washable.  Which meant that during bathtime, I had to get in the shower with him to scrub down his body.  Afterwards, his skin was a nice shade of bright pink from the friction!

Shortly before noon on Thursday, I realized that I had an hour or so free at work, so I decided to go pick up Owen from school and take him out to lunch.  He was thrilled!  It was the first Mommy/Owen restaurant trip together, and I told him I'd take him anywhere he wanted to go.  And.....he chose sushi!  So, Owen and I shared three rolls of sushi and a salad.  Here's a picture of him showing off in the restaurant.  He was really good - acting like the big boy he is.  He even went to the bathroom there (twice)!  (And in the bathroom, not his pants)  It was a special day for us!

Friday afternoon, when picking up the boys at Rebecca's, I found Owen and Liam playing outside.  About ten seconds after I took this picture, Owen turned to his left and soaked me with the hose from head to toe.  I started running away, and that stinker chased me!  I was wearing work clothes, including heals and hose, and I was not happy!

Saturday, we stumbled upon Geoffrey at Toys R Us.  Owen ran right up to him and started dancing to the music.

Here's Benjamin sleeping in the car on the way back from the grocery store.  There's something so angelic about a sleeping baby.

Finally, another video for you.  Benjamin is so talkative now, and we just love hearing his sweet voice. Beware that watching him in the swing will make you a little dizzy!

#190 - Videos of Benjamin

Our sweet Benjamin is getting so big.  He's such a happy, content little baby.  He loves looking around at the world and taking in all the sights and sounds.  His favorites places are his swing and bouncy chair because they give him a great view of the house.  

He's become a verbal baby, starting to make cooing sounds and baby babbles.  Sometimes it seems like he's having a full conversation with himself.  

The onesie in this video is a size 12 month.  Can you believe it?

#189 - Old friends

This weekend, I met Lisa Jenkins at Lake Oconee to attend Kevin Pharr's wedding together.  The weekend was exciting, fun, emotional and over entirely too fast.  I won't go into all the details, but over the past two days, Lisa and I stepped back into the life we knew 18 years ago.  It was sweet, yet sad, and I left Lake Oconee this morning thanking God for the friendship I have with her.  Lisa is my oldest friend.  We met when we were just 13 years old at Peachtree Junior High School in Dunwoody, Georgia.  We've remained close friends over the years, despite living on opposite sides of the country.  We've been through a lot together, from life's greatest moments to some of its darkest.  I love her like a sister.

While Lou was on his guy's weekend trip to Tampa, Mom came to Savannah to play.  It was a lot of fun!

#187 - Happy Birthday and Anniversary!

This weekend, we celebrated Lou's 40th birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary.  We decided to take some time off work and spend the weekend in Atlanta, and we had a wonderful time!  

On Friday, we drove by Lou's old loft in Cabbagetown.  The area has changed so much.  There are shops and stores and restaurants everywhere.  It has very little resemblance to the borderline ghetto in which we used to hang out.  Then, we drove by the house we bought right before we got married in Briarcliff.  Surprisingly, the neighborhood has changed very little.  We ate at the same Fellini's at which we used to always eat.  The houses looked the same, and some of our neighbors were still there.  It was fun reminiscing!

Then, we headed to my dad and Catherine's house.  Papa was in town too, and it was awesome to have all four generations together and spending quality time with each other.  We got to enjoy the pool in the backyard and Catherine put together a fabulous dinner to celebrate Lou's birthday and our anniversary.  

One of our favorite parts of our wedding was our fabulous wedding cake.  It was actually a tower of cheesecakes in three different flavors.  We froze the top layer and ate it on our one-year anniversary and it was still delicious!  So, I decided to surprise Lou and get a cheesecake from that bakery this weekend.  Well, as the weekend got closer, I realized he had planned the same surprise for me!  We clearly know each other well.  And..... it was as yummy as we had remembered it.

One of the highlights of the weekend was Catherine and Dad volunteering to keep the boys Sunday night so that Lou and I could have a night out on the town.  It was such a treat!!!  We got a room at the InterContinental hotel in Buckhead, which is the hotel we stayed in on our wedding night five years ago, although this time we were not in the Presidential Suite.  However, having two little ones at home, any night alone in a hotel without kids is better than any suite!  We met some good friends of ours for dinner at Ecco, a wonderful restaurant in Midtown.  We ate delicious food and emptied many, many wine glasses and then cabbed it back to the hotel for a night of uninterrupted sleep. Happy Anniversary to us!

On Monday, after picking up the boys at Grandfather's house, we met the Flemings at the Georgia Aquarium.  It was Owen's first time and as you can imagine, he loved all the sea life.  It was a great way to end a really nice weekend!

#186 - Smiling Baby and a Jersey fit for Two

Benjamin is such a happy, smiley baby. It totally brightens our day when we are blessed with one of his smiles.

Dad and Catherine bought Owen a kite for his birthday. We've been waiting for a windy day to fly it. With Hurricane Irene passing by, we finally got a day fit for flying a kite. Owen had a blast!

Owen still thinks he's a baby a lot of the time. I found him like this - paci and all.

Owen keeps asking for his own football jersey. In the meantime, he's decided he can simply share his Daddy's.
